Hop In Technologies announces significant partnership with Ecodrive LLC

April 6, 2021 / Markham, Ontario: In an effort to become carbon neutral, Hop In Technologies is delighted to be the first transportation company to partner with Ecodrive LLC. Hop In Technologies provides a logistics software service that offers a customized shuttle solution for the daily commute. Our shuttle solutions help companies improve access to the workplace by extending the reach of transit.

Transportation is one of the world’s largest polluters of carbon emissions and is a leading factor in the climate crisis our planet faces. With deforestation occurring at an alarming rate, forests need to be saved, nurtured and brought back to life and companies such as Ecodrive are leading the way.

Taking into account the mileage travelled during shuttle rides, how many individuals are travelling, and vehicle type, a total CO2 emission is calculated. By offsetting carbon emissions for each trip travelled, this brings Hop In Technologies one step closer to becoming carbon neutral for all rides using our technology both for our own goals, and that of our partners!

Each month, Hop In Technologies will be sending the amount of total kilometres travelled to the Ecodrive team. Ecodrive then works out how many Mangrove trees would need to be planted to absorb the same amount of CO2 emissions out of the atmosphere.

Why Mangroves? ‍

Mangroves are one of the most effective and economic methods of offsetting carbon emissions, as they can absorb nearly 680lbs over their lifetime. These Mangroves are planted in Madagascar by local villagers who provide quarterly updates on the trees we plant through impact partners, Eden Projects. The land on which the trees are planted is usually owned by local tribal communities or federally owned national forests, which means the trees are protected from deforestation. While these efforts benefit the earth, employment opportunities are created for local villagers living in poverty as well.

To date, Hop In Technologies has offset 9.36 tCO2 (20,633.06 pounds of CO2) to compensate for the emissions emitted from over 4500+ rides with us.
